Judge Pro Announces Electronic Filing in Federal Court, WCBA Holds Training at November Bar Luncheon

Judge Pro writes to WCBA members:

Effective January 1, 2006, all papers filed by members of the bar in the United States District Court for the District of Nevada must be filed electronically through the Court’s Case Management/Electronic Case Filing System (CM/ECF). Additionally, beginning in November, the Court will start transmitting documents electronically to those attorneys registered to use the electronic filing system and the format of documents distributed by the Court will change. TechnoLawyer Subscription Free to WCBA Members

WCBA now offers our members a free, one-year subscription to TechnoLawyer, an online resource for lawyers that provides product reviews, how-tos, and other information related to law firm management and technology. TechnoLawyer consists of a network of eight e-mail newsletters and a searchable Web-based archive of all Newsletter content. The Newsletters are free, but searching TechnoLawyer Archive currently costs $65 per year. WCBA members will get a free, one-year subscription to TechnoLawyer Archive. You can check out TechnoLawyer for yourself. The TechnoLawyer subscription page takes you directly to the WCBA sign-up page for your free one-year subscription. The coupon code should fill in automatically. In case it doesn’t, the code is freesub.

The Washoe County Bar Association’s December meeting will present an overview of the “Nevada Short Trial Rules.” Washoe County ADR Commissioner Wesley Ayres and Reno trial attorney William Cobb, who was a member of the Supreme Court’s Short Trial Advisory Committee, will be discussing the mechanism by which a case may enter the program, discovery and certain pretrial procedures including the all important pretrial conference, conduct of a short trial and other significant aspects of the new short trial rules.
